Peninsula Nephrology Academic Conference & Qingdao Nephrology Annual Meeting: Supporting High-Quality Development of Nephrology in the Jiaodong Peninsula
Recently, the 7th Peninsula Nephrology Academic Conference and the 2024 Qingdao Nephrology Annual Meeting, organized by the Qingdao Medical Association and hosted by the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University, was successfully held. Guan Jun, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Qingdao Medical Association; Mei Changlin, the 8th and 9th Vice Chair of the Chinese Society of Nephrology and Lifetime Professor of the Department of Nephrology at Shanghai Changzheng Hospital; and Xu Yan, Vice President of the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University, attended and delivered remarks. Professor Jiang Wei, Chair of the Nephrology Specialty Committee of the Qingdao Medical Association and faculty member of the Department of Nephrology at the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University, presided over the meeting. Over 200 experts from across the country attended the conference, creating a vibrant atmosphere with a strong academic ambience.
The conference brought together numerous domestic and international experts and scholars to discuss and exchange the latest research findings and innovative breakthroughs in clinical practice in the field of nephrology. Many renowned experts in nephrology delivered keynote lectures, sharing valuable experiences for the development of nephrology in the Jiaodong Peninsula. President Liu Bingxin was invited to chair the academic symposium on "Interpretation of the Guidelines for the Management of Hypertension in Chinese Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease," engaging in discussions with attending nephrology experts on basic research and clinical practice, further broadening disciplinary perspectives and injecting new vitality into the development of nephrology.
TCM Advantages Empowering "Nurturing Before Aging": Hemodialysis Observation Center Optimizes New Pathways for Integrated Medical-Elderly Care
On October 12, the third session of the thematic symposium series on "High-Quality Development of Qingdao's Health and Elderly Care Industry Under the Background of New Quality Productive Forces," organized by the Qingdao Health and Elderly Care Society, was successfully held. President Wang Zhong of the Qingdao Health and Elderly Care Society, members of the Society's leadership team, representatives of outstanding medical and elderly care institution member units, and some members attended this event. Zhang Dayong, Vice Director of the 16th Standing Committee of the Qingdao Municipal People's Congress; Peng Jianguo, former Party Secretary and Executive Vice Chairman of the Qingdao Federation of Trade Unions, and former full-time Standing Committee Member and First-level Inspector of the Qingdao CPPCC; Sun Biao, First-level Researcher of the Policy Research Office of the Qingdao Municipal Committee of the CPC; and Leng Liangshi, Fourth-level Researcher of the Aging Affairs Division of the Qingdao Civil Affairs Bureau, and other senior leaders and heads of relevant departments were invited to attend and provided specialized guidance.
The conference thoroughly studied and implemented the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, responding to the requirements set forth in the "Resolution of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Further Deepening Reform Comprehensively to Advance Chinese Modernization" regarding "actively responding to population aging and improving the policies and mechanisms for developing elderly care programs and industries." The symposium focused on the theme of "Operational Analysis and Policy Recommendations for Qingdao Elderly Care Institutions," engaging in in-depth exchanges and discussions to reach a development consensus.
During the thematic discussion session, President Liu Bingxin delivered a presentation titled "TCM Advantages Empowering 'Nurturing Before Aging' — Hemodialysis Observation Center Optimizes New Pathways for Integrated Medical-Elderly Care," proposing the concept of "nurturing before aging," which emphasizes prevention over treatment from the perspective of TCM health and elderly care services. This opened a new perspective on the "longevity era" against the backdrop of population aging, elaborating on the advantages of TCM in "nurturing before aging" and offering ideas and recommendations for integrated medical-elderly care.
Peng Jianguo, former Party Secretary of the Qingdao Federation of Trade Unions, stated that the content shared and the issues raised at this symposium were worthy of study and reflection. This is precisely the type of effective information that the Society, as a bridge for academic exchange and research and an urban think tank platform, needs to gather. Enhancing Quality Management Standards and Promoting High-Quality Development of Medical Care
To further strengthen medical quality and safety management and improve the scientific and refined level of medical quality management, in accordance with the relevant requirements of the Qingdao Municipal Health Commission on quality control work and the 2024 work plan of the Qingdao Nephrology Medical Quality Control Center, the third training conference of the Qingdao Nephrology Quality Control Center was successfully convened on October 20, 2024.
The conference conducted a series of training sessions centered on the theme of "Accurately Improving Quality Control Indicators for Nephrology and Blood Purification Medical Care and Nursing." All members of the Qingdao Nephrology Medical Quality Control Center and key medical and nursing staff engaged in nephrology and blood purification work across the city attended this meeting. President Liu Bingxin was invited to chair the academic session on "Current Research Status and Key Points in Diagnosis and Treatment of Chronic Kidney Disease-Mineral and Bone Disorder (CKD-MBD)." The precise elaboration and detailed interpretation of each thematic topic at the training conference will further contribute to the improvement and enhancement of medical quality management, continuously standardize hospital management, and effectively promote the high-quality development of medical care.
